Singscape is a group of singers whose performances consistently push the boundaries of repertoire and presentation beyond the choral norm. Each project is sparked by collaboration with artists drawn from different media, creating work which engages its audience with an entirely fresh, visual and dramatic perspective to choral sound. Penetrating to the heart of texts and stripping away layers of choral convention to express them to modern audiences leads Singscape down a path of constant exploration and discovery.

Since its launch in 2000, Singscape's choral productions have combined the thrilling sound of professional singers with visuals created by artists from numerous different artforms, lighting and theatre designers. The aim is to perform choral music in an atmosphere which is sympathetic to the text, purpose and context for which a work was written, yet also contemporary. Each production is therefore individual and tailormade for the particular repertoire and venue in hand. Avoiding gimmicks at all costs, the emphasis is on simplicity and clarity of presentation.

Singing which is expressively intense, hauntingly atmospheric and technically brilliant is the hallmark of Singscape's style, together with a vibrant sonority which packs a powerful punch. Not only are all the singers professional and soloists in their own right, but they also possess exceptional range, versatility and commitment to communication in performance, which creates a remarkably rich soundworld.

Singscape's approach to performance is applied to a wide-ranging repertoire, but the group is particularly drawn to romantic, contemporary and experimental music. It is especially renowned for its interpretation of Russian and contemporary works. Performances invariably feature premieres and Singscape is currently commissioning a series of choral dramas involving a variety of cross-disciplinary collaborations.
